Somebody gave me a Chia herb garden for Christmas. I planted the seeds the way they said to, but I put them on the windowsill right away instead of finding a warm place to sprout the seeds. I wonder if they'll grow on my windowsill.
I gave up on the point-and-shoot and went back to the XSi. The Panasonic images were too noisy and had a lot of chromatic aberration. I still have my old XT and tried shooting this windowsill garden with all 3 cameras. But I didn't give the XT a fair chance because it had the kit lens on it. A fair chance would have been to use the same lens on both Canons.

Cool shot - when they grow you will have to do another shot for "now and then"!
ReplyDeleteI hope they do...you'll have to keep us posted!
ReplyDeletelol we had a chia homer last year it takes a bit but they fill out beautifully I can't wait for the grown out version. Great shot
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to see a little early preview of spring. (I hope to have pics of my outdoor garden this summer--and plenty to eat from it!) Good luck on the growing!
ReplyDeleteIf the window sill is fairly warm, they should come up if you keep the soil moist. If it's cold there, you'll have to move them to a warmer spot for most of those to come up!
Nice shot! Why are you hesitating to use the XSi? It's a great camera. What lens did you use?
ReplyDeleteJanet, I started carrying the Panasonic with me because I didn't want to take the XSi out in the bad weather. But since I've been using LR2 I realize how grainy its pics are. So I'll go back to carrying the XSi and just be careful about protecting it from the weather.
ReplyDeleteThat was shot with my favorite 28-135mm IS lens. And I just realized I had it on a tripod and left the IS on. Oh well, it didn't go crazy.
What a cheerful, hopeful picture for a cold January day! I like the little pots all in a row, and the dill that wants to lord it over the other labels.
ReplyDeleteI thought chia plants were shaped like animals or heads? Don't be discouraged if you don't see dill or parsley soon--they're slow to germinate. (I have them in my AeroGarden.)
ReplyDeleteIt's a nice shot of the orderly row of pots.
I like the tidy row of pots and just planting seeds is an act of faith in the future. (Parsley seed likes it cool)
ReplyDeleteThe cheerful color in the pots will help you out while you wait. This shot could have been the 'perfect alignment' one, too!
ReplyDeleteThis must mean Spring is really coming!! Your Chia Garden is perfect for this theme.
ReplyDeleteThat shot is lovely - I find it tough to get a good exposure when shooting towards the window like this. Great job!
ReplyDeleteI turned on the flash because there was too much brightness through the window -- then cropped it to cut out most of the window view.
ReplyDeleteA simple shot made effective by the repeating pots - very nice Jo!
