060: #333 Tower

Rex Humbard built this tower in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio with the intent of putting a restaurant up on the top with a scenic view. It was never finished, and the tower is now a big ugly broadcasting tower.

I was too close and didn't have the right lens to capture the whole tower, so this is a Photoshopped panorama from 2 pictures. I tried a few other views for a panorama, but this was the best of the lot.

058: #106 Food, Glorious Food!

I'm suffering from lens lust! But I don't have the extra $$ and my eyesight is going downhill, so I decided to try to learn how to use the Kenko Teleplus lens with my 70-300mm lens. I've never been satisfied with the results before.

This greedy squirrel made a good subject. :)

055: #138 Handicraft

Back in the days when my eyesight was good I did counted cross-stitch.
This one was done at 22 count (22 per inch), I think.

It hangs in my kitchen but the glare from the window on the opposite wall was too much, so I took it down and put it on a table to photograph it.

054: #Free02 Laughing

Can you hear him laughing?
Gregory is usually happy, but he was eating cookies
and probably on a sugar high...
Still left-handed, but it's great to see him put that cookie
in his mouth and take a bite -- all by himself!

053: #011 Angels

This little cherub sits outside the front door of the library.
She must like her book because nothing disturbs her concentration.

052: #252 Reading Material

Since I retired I'm trying to cut back on spending so I've stopped buying most books and started using the library again. I still buy computer books and occasionally a book by a favorite author that our little library doesn't have, but this is my favorite place to find reading material.

051: #181 Mechanisms

Looks a lot safer than the scaffolds that are just planks!

050: #279 Shadows

Shadows from the blinds at the patio door.

049: #283 Silhouette

Tiptoe through the train tracks, Kayla!

Shot with bright backlight, so she was silhouetted out of camera.
Changed to black and white to enhance the contrast
and dodged the scene out the patio doors a bit.

048: #121 Ghosts

The Cuyahoga Valley National Park bought this property up the hill from my home
and simply abandoned it to the whims of Mother Nature.

I look at the gazebo and memories come flooding back
-- ghosts of happy times in the past with music and laughter --
and the chill shade of death as well.

047: #364 Works of Art

A mosaic on one outer wall of the Peninsula Library representing
the "crooked river" (Cuyahoga) meandering around the village.

Legend has it that the village was named "Peninsula" because
it was located in a peninsula of the river.

Here are 2 other views.

046: #055 Closely Cropped

New snowflakes on my picnic table this morning.
EFS 60 mm lens -- tripod -- manual focus.
"Multiply" to add a little drama.

044: #343 Unfinished

The artist died before he finished this watercolor -- and it's unsigned. I don't know if you can see the sketching in the lower left quadrant. But, at any rate, I like this painting as it is. The white space looks like snow...

043: #141 Hangs on a Wall

A quilt -- wall hanging.
I only wish I were half this creative!

042: #284 Silly

And sometimes Kayla just acts silly for the camera.

041: #234 Pink

Kayla does like to pose for the camera!

She was backlit and there was distracting stuff criss-crossing the background so I cleared off the background in photoshop to just focus on the little flirt in pink.

And I just applied a spotlight to her face. I think I like this version better.

040: #184 Millennium

A silver ring -- a millennium souvenir.
I retired in March of 2000 after the panic died down.
I can't believe it's been 9 years!

039: #362 windows

Frost flowers on my window just after sunrise
(3 below zero - I hope this is the last of the low temps)
I used the EFS 60 mm lens hand-held even though it doesn't have image stabilization -- and leaned on the window frame to steady myself.

038: #246 Purple

When the public school took over my grandson Gregory's education they bought him this walker and let him pick out the color. Well it was purple of course! That was his favorite color at the time -- maybe it still is. Anyway, the school keeps the pacer when school is in session, but they send it home with him on weekends and vacations. He's grown so much that this is almost too small for him. I wonder what they'll do for next year...

So this is Gregory's "purple pacer" -- that's what he calls it. It has soft bumpers to keep from destroying the house, but he's learned to control it fairly well and he can go from one room to another without help -- usually.

036: #292 Snow or Ice

Drip.p..p...p !

It'll take a while for the foot of snow on the roof to melt down.
Probably next week.
It's warm for only a day now and there's more below freezing on the way for this week.

035: #080 Box

A box of goodies -- bought with a Christmas gift certificate from my daughter.
Fruit and nuts -- is she trying to tell me something?

034: #288 Sleeping

Shhhh!
It's a rare moment when the little imp is so worn out that she takes a nap!

I think I like this close crop better...
