225: Free #15 Raptor

I think it's a red-tailed hawk eating a squirrel for breakfast. It was on the playhouse roof and let me get within about 15 feet of it!

  1. Incredible ferocity in the eye and beak. What an amazing shot!

  2. I wonder if it's a Cooper's Hawk? The "raised hackles" look on the back of his head is kind of classic for the Cooper's. Whoever he is, it's a great candid shot!

  3. What a shot....he wasn't going to let you interfere with his meal.

  4. Wrapped in your Raptor, I'd peg out the occasional squirrel in an effort to attract her back. Wouldn't try to take the squirrel off her though, I don't see evidence of a sense of humour.

  5. Gorgeous bird...although I'm glad I don't have to dine from HIS menu. Fabulous shot!

  7. What a thrill to get that close. You got such sharp detail, as Bobbie said the eyes and beak are all business. A fine shot!
